JANE & PAUL’S SPRING MARQUEE WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

Jane & Paul’s Spring marquee wedding took place in a delightful North Yorkshire village on a day of beautifully sunny (albeit a tad chilly) May day last Saturday.

The day began for the boys with a round of golf at Aldwark Manor followed by an ushers lunch at the local whilst the girls made their preparations at the bride’s family home.

Jane wore a Pronovias dress and Paul, a black morning suit with duck egg blue waistcoat.

Flowers were by the bride and several local ladies from the village and cake by Aunt Sally making this a very family orientated affair.

Following on from the ceremony at St. Mary’s conducted by Bishop Clive Handford, a champagne reception was held with a marquee back at Jane’s parents house.

The band for the evening were old friends Groove Anatomy and the couple are currently honeymooning in Dubai and the Maldives.

Below are a selection of highlights from the day.

Francesca & Joel’s Backyard Wedding (Part 2)

Backyard-Wedding-085

Following on from Part 1 of Francesca & Joel’s backyard wedding is this, Part 2. Two parts because it was so good with so much material a single post would not have done their day justice.

So what exactly is a ‘backyard wedding’ and how does it differ from a ‘DIY wedding’? Well it’s just terminology really. A wedding in the US or Australia with a large ‘home made’ rather than outsourced element is often called a ‘backyard’ wedding as it happens in a garden or field.

Francesca & Joel’s wedding was exactly that. Other than the marquee and the excellent caterers (Friends 4 Dinner) everything else such as the flowers, canapes, cake etc were all provided by group effort from various friends & family.

After a gloriously sunny start to the day, mid drinks reception, the heavens opened but fortunately the mill building provided cover and a gift to a photographer for the exclusive couple only shoot.

Kat & James’s Sportsman’s Arms Wedding (Part 2)

Sportsmans-Arms-Wedding-045

Following on from Part 1 of Kat & James’s Harrogate wedding at St John’s church in Knaresborough. Part 2 of Kat & James’s Sportsman’s Arms wedding which took place with a marquee in the village of Wath in the Nidderdale Valley.

This venue holds a special place in our hearts, that is Julie and I because it’s where we had our own wedding reception a few years back and coincidently (and it is pure coincidence), at the time of writing and posting this blog page, it is actually our wedding anniversary. Today. But enough about us…

Well maybe a little more… On our wedding day, it was raining when we arrived on the 10th August at The Sportsman’s and so it was on Saturday 1st August for Kat & James, but after some on/off showers, the sun eventually stayed out and it remained a glorious afternoon & evening.

Special mention in regard to the band. We see a lot of bands and some are good and some less so, but this one was really good, especially as the lead singer Gavin asked how I’d like the lighting and if there was anything else he could do to help set the environment for the dancing. There are a few pics of the band towards the end of this post and here’s a link to their site.

A full gallery with international print ordering facility will appear here soon, as soon as Kat & James are back from their honeymoon in Tanzania and the island of Pemba (off Zanzibar).

Papakata-Wedding-188

Saturday 4th July was the date of Caroline & Charlie’s Papakata wedding at St Edith’s and on the village green in the delightful village of Bishop Wilton near York.

The day started as a damp and drizzly one, but the sun popped out on cue, just prior to the ceremony conducted by the Rev. Andrew and Father James (Ampleforth, James’s old school).

Caroline wore (appropriately) Caroline Castigliano and the groom a grey morning suit.

Flowers were by Nattrass of Darlington, marquee by Papakata, catering by The Yorkshire Party Company and music (day) a steel band and (evening), Chris Hilton’s Little Big Band.

Suzie & Matt’s North Yorkshire Marquee Wedding

Suzie & Matt got married last week. If you were there, you will know this! Suzie & Matt’s North Yorkshire marquee wedding took place at St Mary’s in the village of Wath near Ripon.

The vicar was Tim who also conducted Cynthia & Richard’s wedding the Sunday previously, but completely different church.

It was a hot day. Not as hot as it’s been this last week, but pretty hot and complete with blue skies and fluffy white clouds which is what everyone hopes for with a marquee reception in the middle of a field!

Suzie wore Caroline Castigliano and the men, traditional morning suits with the bridesmaids Andrea and sister Jilly in cornflower blue.

The blue Rolls was courtesy of Keith Snowden Cars and florist Sheila Danby with marquee by Classic and catering by CWC. The band was Touch The Pearl and fabulous fireworks kindly and generously provided by a family friend.

The Harrogate Marquee Wedding of Rosie & Hamish

Just seen the video and wanted to say how lovely it is. Brought tears to my eyes – and I’d managed to hold it together on the day!! Thanks again. Tim (FOB)
Saturday 13th June was the Harrogate Marquee wedding of Rosie & Hamish taking place at All Saints church and Hamish’s parents home, The Old Rectory in Kirkby Overblow.

It was supposed to be wet. It wasn’t. The last thing anyone wants on a wedding day is rain, but especially so with a garden based marquee wedding and against everything the met office said was happening, the sun came out for some of the day. And it did not rain.

Rosie wore Caroline Castigliano from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge and was attended by her 4 bridesmaids; Emily, Emily, Sophie & Katy.

During the ceremony & drinks reception, Georgina Wells played her harp and evening entertainment was courtesy of dancefloor fillers, Groove Anatomy (plus The Notorious B.I.G. between sets).

The flowers and cake were both by the family and catering by a great company we have worked with several times before, Mike Kernall.

Rosie & Hamish will be honeymooning in Italy taking in; Portofino, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast.

A great wedding, – great people and day and below is their wedding film in 2 parts and a highlights selection from their photography with full gallery to follow shortly now available to view and order prints from here.

Jenny & Caspar’s Spring Marquee Wedding (Part I)

Spring-Marquee-Wedding-079

Jenny & Caspar’s Spring marquee wedding took place on the 11th April in the same North Yorkshire village (Ainderby Steeple near Northallerton) as Jenny’s sister Ellie’s wedding (to George) a couple of years ago.

However, whereas Ellie & George’s August wedding was a bit grey and dull weather-wise, Jenny & Caspar were blessed with beautiful April sunshine.

Jenny wore a bespoke 2 piece Andrea Bambridge wedding dress and Caspar a handmade suit courtesy of the immaculate tailoring of James Michelsberg.

Flowers were by Pat Greensit and Gilly Guthrie and the bouquet by Jean Dalgliesh.

The stunning white circa approx 1930 Bugatti belongs to Caspar’s father Michael.

The ceremony itself took place just across the road (red carpet and traffic halted!) at St. Helen’s conducted by the very welcoming Rev. Clive Todd with singing by members of the York Minster choir.

The caterers were CWC with guests enjoying a goats cheese based starter, Beef Wellington main plus trio of desserts and the marquee was provided by Coopers.

During the drinks reception (a second post can be viewed by clicking here) there was a Hendricks gin bar and an oyster bar provided by Oyster Meister which went down very well with the 180 or so guests.

The evening band were The Mini Big Band and the lighting both inside the marquee and out on the lawn (lit by 100+ solar lanterns) and around the garden was just fantastic.

The highlight for many however would have been the surprise act, – a ‘singing waiter’ trio Incognito who performed between mains and dessert.

Jenny & Caspar are honeymooning in California & Bora Bora.

Sophie & Ollie’s West Yorkshire Marquee Wedding, Part 01

Last week was a busy week. The busiest week of the year for weddings with 3, this being the final one.

I shoot more marquee weddings than any other type of wedding or venue so Sophie & Ollie’s West Yorkshire marquee wedding was another typical day in the office for me…and it’s a great office to work in!

Sophie & Ollie’s wedding came about as a result of a wedding I photographed last year for Louise & Christian with Christian’s parents being Ollie’s god-parents.
I don’t know if that makes Ollie & Christian god-brothers, or something…

So it was another gloriously sunny day in a field on top of a grassy hill in West Yorkshire, unlike our pre-wedding photo-shoot where it did nothing but rain.

Sophie wore Pronovias sourced from the Bond Street shop in London and the groom Ollie, traditional morning suit and the 6 adult bridesmaids were dressed in grey.

Flowers were by Tracy at The Butterfly Net and the car, a cream MGB by Sophie’s dad, John.

The ceremony at St John The Evangelist in Upper Denby was conducted by the very accommodating Rev. Jeff and during the ceremony, Sophie’s sister Frankie sang ‘Grow Old With Me’ by Tom O’Dell.

Part 02 of Sophie & Ollie’s wedding continues here with the reception.
