HANNAH & STEFAN’S THE ORANGERY AT SETTRINGTON WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

The weather forecast for Hannah & Stefan’s The Orangery Settrington wedding was not looking good.

Heavy rain for pretty much the duration of the day was forecast and indeed that is exactly what happened at various times, but equally, there were spells of glorious late Spring sunshine.

Hannah got ready at her parents house in the North Yorkshire village of Settrington and wore Sassi Holford and Stefan wore a Hackett suit.

The wedding car was Hannah’s father’s  self-driven Jaguar XK convertible and flowers were by Kirsty at Minnie Bees.

After the ceremony (a bit wet going in!) a drinks reception with band Alligator Gumbo and catering by Yorkshire Party Company was held next door at The Orangery

Hannah & Stefan are now on honeymoon in Vietnam.

Hello Simon!

That is an absolutely amazing chronicle of photos for the wedding day. We’ve watched it over and over! We need to stop being so sad and enjoy the beach whilst we can!
Thank you,
Stefan & Hannah

JANE & PAUL’S SPRING MARQUEE WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

Jane & Paul’s Spring marquee wedding took place in a delightful North Yorkshire village on a day of beautifully sunny (albeit a tad chilly) May day last Saturday.

The day began for the boys with a round of golf at Aldwark Manor followed by an ushers lunch at the local whilst the girls made their preparations at the bride’s family home.

Jane wore a Pronovias dress and Paul, a black morning suit with duck egg blue waistcoat.

Flowers were by the bride and several local ladies from the village and cake by Aunt Sally making this a very family orientated affair.

Following on from the ceremony at St. Mary’s conducted by Bishop Clive Handford, a champagne reception was held with a marquee back at Jane’s parents house.

The band for the evening were old friends Groove Anatomy and the couple are currently honeymooning in Dubai and the Maldives.

Below are a selection of highlights from the day.

Nicola & Joe’s Sledmere House Wedding (Part 01)

NICOLA & JOE’S SLEDMERE HOUSE WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

This is a wedding of two parts. Part 01 begins with preparations at a lodge at the KP Club, Pocklington, York and is followed by a ceremony at Sledmere House.

This is only the half of it as Part 02 follows shortly where the wedding moves on to a reception at Barmbyfield Barns near York.

And what a wedding (which is why I am featuring it in two parts!), – one where the proverbial large lady warbled all day from start to finish without faltering.

Excellent planning, excellent execution of the plan (the most relaxed wedding days are always the best planned) and the sun shone all day.

Below in 3 galleries are a small selection of highlight images from the first part of Nicola & Joe’s Sledmere House wedding with a Photo-Film below.

Nicola & Joe’s Barn Wedding (Part 02)

NICOLA & JOE’S BARN WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

So following on from Part 01, may I present Part 02, Nicola & Joe’s Barn Wedding at Barmbyfield Barn’s near Pocklington, York.

This wedding had so many elements and venues it is almost impossible to define as it began at the very smart lodges at the KP Club, turned into a grand country house wedding and at this point, became a barn wedding…with a ‘backyard’/farm/rural twist!

Exceptional planning, timing & decor, combined with beautiful weather and a super-relaxed atmosphere added up to not only a fabulous wedding day, but a photographers dream.

The caterers were Purple Chilli for the wedding meal and later in the evening, there was also The Pizza Guy which went down a storm. Every wedding should have pizza!

The band were all friends of the B&G so don’t have a name and filled the dancefloor.

Katy & James’s Middleton Lodge Wedding

KATY & JAMES’S MIDDLETON LODGE WEDDING

Firehorse Photography France

Well, my year finally got underway with Katy & James’s Spring wedding with ceremony at St Michael & All Angels church followed by reception at Middleton Lodge.
After a Winter of updating websites, engagement photo-shoots and general thumb twiddling, it was good to finally get back into wedding season again!
I must have first met James at his brother Simon’s wedding to Alexis in 2011 so it was good to catch up with several familiar faces from that day.
After an early Spring of mostly quite dull and cool weather, it was great that the sun decided to make an appearance and add a bit of warmth.
Preparations took place at Middleton lodge itself with Katy travelling in a white vintage Jaguar and the guests by red London bus to the church just a couple of miles away.
Post-ceremony, it was back to this fine country house venue for a champagne & canapes reception in the garden.
Then it was time for the meal and speeches in the marquee before dancing the night away to a band.
I’m always interested in the unique personal touches at every wedding and this had two that stood out with Katy’s engagement ring being her grandmothers and the sword that was used to cut the cake was her grandfather’s old naval sword.

Victoria & Dean’s Swinton Park Elopement

VICTORIA & DEAN’S SWINTON PARK ELOPEMENT

Firehorse Photography France

They are becoming increasingly popular these ‘weddings for two’ and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Victoria & Dean’s Swinton Park elopement.

In one sense, there is a lot less pressure on a photographer in that there is less to cover, but at the same time, more pressure because there is nowhere for a photographer to hide.

Less, because an elopement or ‘wedding for two’ only has essentially 3 elements, – prep, ceremony, couple whereas a more typical or larger wedding day has around 20 ‘chapters’.

The sun did not exactly shine on Victoria & Dean’s day, but it wasn’t terrible either and both the hotel and grounds of Swinton Park are brilliant regardless of the weather.

Actually, this was not strictly speaking a ‘wedding for two’, but a ‘wedding of four’ as there were two other essential beings at this wedding, – Darcy & Rupert, – the couple’s dogs/children.

Victoria & Dean are currently on honeymoon in Cornwall. Or is it Devon? Devon or Cornwall…

1.30pm start and back in time for tea, – I really love shooting these days!

So without further ado, below, a selection of highlights from the day.

Venue: Swinton Park

Dress: Pronovias

Flowers: Twisted Willow
